“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
-Romans 5:8
Devotional:
What you think about shapes how you live. If your mind constantly feeds on fear, comparison, hustle, or self-gratification—that’s what fuels your choices and attitudes. But when your thoughts are directed by God’s Spirit, your mindset aligns with peace, purpose, and eternal truth.
In today’s culture, our minds are flooded with opinions, influencers, news cycles, and curated lives that shout, “This is what matters!” We check phones before we check in with God. We meditate more on reels than on Scripture. The noise is non-stop—but it’s our responsibility to choose the soundtrack.
Romans 8:5 is a challenge to our mental playlists. Are we tuning into worry or worship? Are our minds set on success by the world’s standards, or submission to God’s?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You know my mind better than I do. You see every anxious thought, every selfish desire, every distraction pulling me from You. I want to live by Your Spirit. Help me set my thoughts on what is good, true, and eternal. Break the grip of worldly thinking and renew my mind with Your presence. Let my inner world reflect Your peace, not this culture’s chaos. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
